About Audrey

Before her untimely death in 2004, Audrey made an indelible mark on the world of urban public education. In the mid-1990s, she served as a Program Director for Philadelphia Futures, an organization that arranges mentorships and college scholarships for underserved high school students in the Philadelphia area. Later she moved on to fulfill several roles at the Children’s Aid Society in New York City, particularly its Community Schools initiative, where she led policy initiatives and publicly facing campaigns to showcase a series of New York high schools that featured a series of expanded capabilities — from full-scale medical centers to extensive after-school and childcare programs — in order to better serve their respective community needs.

Audrey found herself back in the Philadelphia area in 1999-2001, as she received dual master’s degrees in Public Policy and Education from the University of Pennsylvania. Following a series of teaching stints alongside her graduate work, Audrey’s goals were re-enter the NYC education arena and continue her work with these and other projects yet to come.

Audrey passed away in 2004 at the age of 32, survived by her husband Dave and daughter Sophie, her parents and brother, and an adoring legion of family, friends, and colleagues who sought to continue even a small portion of this good work under her name.
